A Little About Me

Hello, there.
My name is David M. Yoho and I am a copywriter and content writer.
My first paid writing project was when I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school. It was a state-wide essay contest for a bank in Iowa whose motto was, “A few words about money matters—money matters.” Five silver dollars was the first-place prize and I kept those for a long time. I went on to college, earning a degree in history. History requires a lot of reading, writing, and research, all qualities essential to copywriting. Later on, I tried my hand at writing fiction, specifically short stories. These require brevity, conciseness, and a knack for quickly telling a good story. More qualities useful in copywriting and writing great content.
I spent the larger part of my adult life as a small business owner. As such, I quickly learned the importance of selling my services to my prospective customers. I had to convince them that my company was the right one for them to deal with. I also faced the many problems that all businesses run into. I feel that I have a keen insight into what running a business requires.
When I discovered copywriting, I immediately enrolled in copywriting courses at AWAI (American Writers & Artists Institute). AWAI is the world leader in copywriting instruction. I found out that my writing experience and my business experience fit right in with professional copywriting. I had only to learn to write persuasively and conversationally. AWAI places particular emphasis on always including a specific call to action (CTA) in most pieces of writing that businesses present to their customers.
This is what I offer to businesses—concise, to the point, and conversational writing with the aim of persuading your readers to answer a specific call to action (CTA). This CTA might be to buy your product, read a blog, subscribe to a newsletter, or any other CTA you think will benefit your business. Of course, this will require thorough research on my part into your products or services, your prospective customers, and how you want to present your business to the world.
My main area of emphasis is the Baby Boomer market. I identify with that age group and I know what these people want and need. Many want to do things that they couldn’t do in their younger years. Alas, many feel a loss of direction or value as they age. In my blog, BOOMERS BE BOOMING, I present writing as an activity that can serve as a source for self-fulfillment and renewal of purpose. I wish to help those who might want to pursue writing as a hobby or even a new business. There is a wide array of products and services that businesses offer to help boomers with their dreams of becoming writers. These products would include computers, computer programs, books, writing courses, and many others.
Good copywriting and content have become increasingly important tools in the arsenal for most companies to survive in this internet age. If your company is actively marketing to these customers, please feel free to contact me to discuss how I might be of service in marketing your business.
